SEND Policy

for each student, the best possible environment for learning and ensuring that they make progress. We aim to provide a safe, secure, happy, caring environment where all students are encouraged to participate fully.

Northwood School SEND Information Report

This report should be read in conjunction with the Hillingdon Local Offer and the SEND Policy, all of which can be read on the school website or are available on request from the school.

The Special Resource Provision has 10 allocated places for pupils with Speech, Language and Communication difficulties. In order to be considered for entry to the SRP, students must have an Educational, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) with a Speech, Language and Communication Need (SLCN) as a primary need.  Acceptance to the SRP is via formal agreement between Hillingdon Local Authority and Northwood School, through a process of consultation.

Special Resource Provision (SRP)

Students receive a full experience of a mainstream environment, including tutor groups and a mainstream curriculum. Students are taught curriculum subjects in the wider mainstream environment and they will receive in-class support by SRP staff and Learning Support Assistants (LSA). In addition, students have access to specialist teaching and interventions in small groups. The interventions support and develop their academic, problem solving and social communication skills. The SRP liaises closely with the Speech and Language Therapist who visits weekly and the pupils receive regular input from a Speech and Language Therapist as their needs require.

The pupils in the SRP are supported through our Inclusion Manager, the SRP teacher, the Speech and language therapist and through quality first teaching within the classroom
